The Local Authority will review a Planning Application to ensure that it is complete and the documents are to the required specification. This has to be done within 2 weeks and is called ‘validation’. Amongst the most common reasons for applications being returned ‘un-validated’ are incorrect Planning Application Plans, Planning Permission drawings not being to the correct scale and Planning drawings being drawn inaccurately.
After the Planning application has been successfully validated, the Local Authority has 8 weeks to issue their decision, however extensions can be applied for complex cases.
